With BlackChili, a tread compound always based on the latest discoveries in polymer research and raw materials, Continental has provided the cycling scene with a lasting answer. Depending on the area of use of a tire, they specifically adapt the formulation of the compound, whether for road bikes, mountain bikes, time trials, or downhill. For BlackChili, they refine special synthetic rubbers with proven natural rubber to create particularly high-performance compounds. Particles of carbon black, optimized in terms of shape and surface properties, are then added to these mixtures. The complex technology of the compound is so sensitive that tires with BlackChili compound are produced exclusively in Korbach.
