Cervelo Aspero Apex XPLR AXS 1 - Gold

The new Cervelo Áspero remains true to those early, simpler days of genuine gravel, but with some improvements: a threaded bottom bracket, tidier cable routing, and a derailleur hanger compatible with UDH for those who want to use SRAM drivetrains. And naturally, it is more aerodynamic. In the case of the Áspero, however, aerodynamic performance is less about outright speed and more about energy savings achieved by reducing aerodynamic drag. After a long day battling headwinds, the three watts saved compared to the previous Áspero could equate to one less energy gel your stomach has to digest – Try it to believe it! Beyond reducing aerodynamic drag, Cervelo has also lowered the chainstays to provide a bit more rear-end compliance and slightly softened the front-end stiffness to make the final hours of those truly long races less punishing. Between the lowered chainstays, they have also added a bit more clearance for mud, drawing on lessons learned from the R5-CX (and the 2023 Unbound mudfest). These are many seemingly small improvements that add up to many others. The result is a bike that looks very much like the original Áspero but is in fact faster, more comfortable, and more versatile.
