Abus Taipan Helmet: Protection and Performance for Cycling Gravel
The Abus Taipan helmet is the ideal solution for those who practice cycling gravel and seek a balance between safety and performance. Engineered with In-Mold technology, it combines a polycarbonate outer shell with an expanded polystyrene inner core to ensure long-lasting protection against impacts and abrasion. At just 295 grams, the Taipan delivers lightweight performance without compromising durability. The 18 ventilation openings are interconnected by internal channels that ensure optimal airflow, keeping the head cool during intense sessions on mixed terrain. The polycarbonate lower-edge protection guards against scratches and everyday wear, while the reflective sticker enhances visibility in low-light conditions.
Comfort and Adaptability: Innovative Technologies for the Perfect Fit
Customized fit is guaranteed by the Zoom™ Spin adjustment system, a dial at the back of the head that allows precise adjustments based on head circumference. The ponytail opening makes the helmet compatible with longer hairstyles, while the floating padding, attached at multiple anchor points, improves ventilation and long-lasting comfort. The Flow Straps™ are aerodynamic straps that reduce drag and noise while riding. The classic buckle offers practical everyday use, while the front eyewear dock positions glasses securely and aerodynamically. The subtly widened internal shape provides more room for thicker padding, adapting like a second skin.
Integrated Lighting and Advanced Safety
The rechargeable magnetic rear light is a standout feature of the Taipan, ensuring enhanced visibility during evening rides. Featuring IP44 protection, it resists foreign objects and water splashes, delivering reliability in variable weather conditions. Four lighting modes—Steady, Power, Pulse and Flash—adapt to different light conditions. The Power mode offers at least 4.3 hours of runtime, while Flash reaches 35 hours, with a full recharge in about 1.5 hours via USB-C cable. The Acti Cage™ allows larger ventilation openings while maintaining structural stability thanks to foam reinforcement, combining thermal efficiency with robust protection.
