The Princeton CarbonWorks Wake 6560 Evo wheels originate from the model conceived in 2012, with the first ride models completed in 2015. Since then, there have been 4 versions of Princeton's flagship wheel, each offering improvements in aerodynamic performance and efficiency, weight, stiffness, responsiveness, and quality. A unique and balanced combination of attributes has made the Wake 6560 the benchmark wheel for those seeking maximum performance: aerodynamically faster than deeper wheels, lighter and better handling than shallower wheels, all while being stiff, responsive, and lively under power. And now, in its fifth generation, the legend evolves. The Wake 6560 Evolution introduces a revolutionary new shape, the second wheel in the Evolution series behind the Alta 3532. Extensive testing and development have led to a wheel that is even more efficient than its predecessor, the Wake 6560 Strada. Even more impressively, the new Wake 6560 Evolution has represented the largest leap forward in performance from one version to the next, among all iterations of the Wake series. Immediately recognizable compared to previous versions, the shape of the Wake 6560 has substantially changed. The new Evolution profile combines alternating deep and shallow rim sections with alternating spoke sides. Mechanically, this allows the steeper and higher tension spokes (rear drive side spokes and front disc side spokes) to connect to a deeper rim section, thereby flattening the spoke angles. Changing the bracing angle helps balance spoke tensions, creating a stiffer and more uniform wheel. This patented technology, Radially Staggered Lacing, is exclusive to Princeton CarbonWorks road wheels. The Wake 6560 Evolution is also wider and lighter than its predecessor. The increased width (21 mm internal, 28.2 mm maximum external) is optimized for the 25-28 mm tires that professional cyclists are currently racing with. The result is a wheel with even better aerodynamic efficiency at all yaw angles and improved composure in difficult crosswinds. The rim weight has been reduced by 10 g per rim, thanks to the shorter overall cable length of the inner rim. The brake on the rim and the hooks continue to live on. Disc brake rims will always be available, and the Wake 6560 Evolution will continue to feature a tubeless ready hookless tire bed that can accommodate clincher/tube tires or tubeless tires without the need for tape and with no restrictions on tire pressure.
