Mavic Ksyrium Thermo Jacket: Polartec Alpha insulation for winter performance
The Mavic Ksyrium Thermo jacket is the ideal solution for those who practice winter cycling and high-intensity outdoor activities. Made with Polartec® Alpha®, an innovative next-generation insulator, this jacket combines three key features: thermal warmth, packability, and extreme breathability. Polartec Alpha insulation was specifically developed for high-performance environments where cyclists face drastic temperature changes without the option of removing layers of clothing. Thanks to the open structure of the insulation, it delivers optimal body moisture management even during intense efforts, making it superior to traditional insulating systems in terms of dynamic thermal regulation.
Construction features and seasonal versatility
The outer fabric of the Ksyrium Thermo Jacket is water-repellent and windproof, combined with a stretch material that ensures freedom of movement while riding. Its lightweight construction allows it to pack down into a pocket, turning it into a versatile layer to wear from autumn through spring. This jacket performs effectively in three different configurations: as a standalone garment during spring and autumn rides, as an intermediate insulating layer in harsh winter conditions under a protective shell, or as standalone protection for hikes and specific outdoor activities such as cross-country skiing, ski mountaineering, and mountain biking. Polartec Alpha technology retains its insulating properties even when wet, ensuring consistent performance in variable weather conditions.
Technical applications and layering system compatibility
The Mavic Ksyrium Thermo Jacket is designed to integrate into professional layering systems, where moisture and temperature management are critical parameters. Paired with a Jersey long-sleeve top in synthetic fabric or merino wool, it provides optimal insulation for temperatures between 5 and 15°C. In colder conditions, its compatibility with outer winter jackets makes it a reliable mid-layer. The fabric's stretch provides a full range of motion during technical activities such as ski mountaineering or trail running. Polartec Alpha technology differs from traditional fleece insulators in its ability to maintain vapor permeability even with windproof protection, eliminating overheating during prolonged efforts.
